Colours in My Garden

It has been such a beautiful day here and we have been cleaning out the garage, doing washing and generally tidying up around the place. I took my camera out earlier to capture some of the colours in my garden and here they are!

Hugs N Kisses Giveaway

Helen from Hugs N Kisses is having a fabulous Christmas giveaway of the most beautiful Christmas Quilt. Isn't is gorgeous? It is a seven part block of the month and has all been stitched in the one shade. It is very very tempting to order this - but maybe I might be a winner!

Gorgeous Scarf

Carmelle from our Needlework Group showed me this beautiful scarf she knitted this past week, complete with knitted flowers! It was stunning in a lovely winter white colour. She also had a lovely Patons book too with lots of lovely knitted bits and pieces! There just aren't enough hours in the day!

Charity Quilt Finished

And finally we have completed one of our charity raffle quilts today. All the binding is on following the quilting by Jenny. It looks fabulous and even though this picture does not do it justice, we have some very talented stitchers in our group who have done a beautiful job on this quilt.

A Gift from Vietnam

How beautiful is this little embroidered bag which Helen - a stitching friend - bought back for me from Vietnam! I love it when friends travel and find such gorgeous hand stitched gifts. It really is beautifully worked - thanks Helen!

Christmas in July Decorations

Here are the Christmas in July decorations we are stitching in a couple of weeks. Simple and cute and designed by Sylvia at the end of last year - hence the Christmas 2008 tag on the angel!

Beautiful "Mia"

I also came across AK Traditions - a company from Melbourne - who had the most divine knitted doll patterns. I am not usually a knitted doll person but these were gorgeous and all so very different. Just had to have this book also called "Huggable Friends" - can I find the time to knit something in between everything else??

Material Obsession Two

Some of the pages from "Material Obsession Two" - another must have at the Craft Fair. Just loved the colour and quilts and I was obviously having an "I love bright coloured quilts day" when I was there because I bought one quilt kit and ordered another block of the month - all brights and looking forward to getting in to those also!

Sunset over Sydney

This is sunset as we flew into Sydney on our way home from Vanuatu recently. I took this out the plane window and it turned out really well! Such a shame holidays have to end and you have to come back to a cold and bleak winter!

Productive Shirley!!

Shirley is here holding up her fabulous quilt which is a great panel designed for women recovering or suffering from breast cancer. If you look closely, you will see some are wearing caps or have no hair - all pink and just a fabulous design! Shirley has made this for a very special friend!

New fabrics

At the Craft Show I bought a beautiful kit to make a simple quilt from Post Office Patchwork in Glenbrook. I just fell in love with the bright colours! It is pretty simple (or at least looks simple) to make and there are three charm packs filled with beautiful fabrics included! Will eventually show you the finished quilt!!

This is a bit random, but as I was driving to work yesterday morning through heavy rain, there was this beautiful rainbow which stopped right in the middle of the road in front of me so I took a photo through the windscreen! Not very clear but you get the general idea!

Church Banner

While I was in the Church taking photos I thought I would share this lovely banner which was made recently by Lyn - a very clever patchworker at our Church. It is a gorgeous colour washed banner depicting the area in which we live, complete with pelicans (we have lots), the beautiful river and the Tollgate Islands out to sea. It really is lovely and the photo doesn't really do this piece justice!

The Sun Shining Through!

I have been having a bit of blog trouble which I only discovered today! I had a lovely weekend at the Craft Fair in Sydney and came home to blog about some fantastic things I saw but there was some sort of glitch! Anyway ... here is a lovely photo of our church with the sun shining through the stained glass windows! I took it last Wednesday when we were doing embroidery in the hall and it looked so lovely! I hope you like it too!

Front View of Sewing Tidy

And here is the sewing tidy hanging over one of my lounges - about to slip some sewing bits and pieces into it. The colours haven't come out so well in this photo but the fabrics are a Moda range (forgotten the name) and are rich greens and reds.

Sewing Tidy

I have finished sewing together this Sewing Tidy for your armchair - simply hang over the armchair and slip your sewing things into the large pockets. A really useful item and I have adapted this pattern from a Lyn Briggs pattern from Moore Patchwork & Quilting.

Blackwork Pin Keeper

Here is a blackwork pin keeper which I finished off a while ago. I love the variegated thread and the colours which came through in this little project. I just hung it out in a protea bush in our garden in the sun to photograph and was happy with the detail in this picture! It is sooooo nice to see the sun today!

Floss Tag Holder

Here is my completed Floss Tag Holder which I have now posted off overseas to a special stitching friend! Had a bit of fun with the eyelets but it all worked out well in the end! I have added a little dove of peace on the bottom!
