Stitching Day Glimpses

More stitching day pictures and these fabulous brightly coloured felt cut outs at Steph's shop were very hard to resist! The colours are superb and they would make great embellishment for felting projects or some interesting brooches!

I loved this bag - I think because it had a bit of orange - although I don't think my colours have come out all that well in this photo!

Our projects for the Stitching Day were on the board for all to see and for inspiration!

And lots of the ladies bought along some show and tell from previous stitching days to show the others! There was such a great display - especially from our last Christmas Stitching Day last year!

More Stitching on the Bay

More snippets from "Stitching on the Bay"! This was part of Steph's lovely display - the black scarf has been embelished with some bright and wonderful designs by Bernie - the colours are great!

And this little bag of Leanne Beasley's was on display - I started this bag at the Glenharrow Stitching Day in Melbourne last night - and I have to admit I haven't quite put it together yet, so this finished one is inspiration for me!

The beautiful pumpkin and fetta frittata's for lunch were to die for (and very colourful also!)

And our very own "master chefs" - Maree and Lynne - having a well earned "time out" before afternoon tea was served!

Stitching on the Bay

We had our "Stitching on the Bay" day today in Batemans Bay and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time enjoying good friends, great food and a bit of stitching along the way! This picture has nothing to do with stitching, however the little lolly bowls in the middle of each table were colourful and yummy!

All the gift bags were white with a lovely Nancy Halvorsen panel affixed to the front and the name tags for the ladies had a bit of Nancy Halvorsen fabric trimming the tag!

We were fortunate to have Steph's from Moruya join us with a table of wares from her beautiful shop. The display was so colourful (and very tempting for some of us) and the fabrics and patterns were, as always, divine!

And the food prepared by Maree and Lynne was spectacular! This is the afternoon tea selection - sticky date puddings (with toffee sauce), raspberry macaroons and white chocolate and macadamia nut slice! Absolutely delicious ladies - thanks for such a wonderful catering job!

Jukejema Quilting Barn

A long day was had yesterday driving to Nowra to visit the Orthopaedic Surgeon about my problem knee, having an MRI on my knee and then back to the Surgeon. So when I finally finished with that I sought out the comfort of the beautiful fabrics and treats in the Jukejema Quilting Barn in Nowra! Well worth the visit - even just to run your fingers across the beautiful fabrics!

And here is a collage of the projects for the "Stitching on the Bay" day which is on this Saturday in Batemans Bay! This is just to tempt the taste buds of the ladies who will be attending! Sylvia and I are looking forward to seeing you all!

Stitching Inspiration

At the recent Stitching Day in Canberra, some of the ladies had some beautiful sewing accessories which they were using! I took a couple of photos of some that caught my eye! This beautiful hardanger needlecase was made for Jan by a very special friend! It is really very beautiful!

And a biscornu will always capture my attention! This was a simple design but very elegant and beautifully finished!

And another hardanger piece - this pincushion was being well used!

Sunny Days

As it is absolutely bucketing rain here, I am thinking of sunnier days! I much prefer the summer heat to winter cold! A glimpse through the trees to the beautiful aqua blue waters in Thailand! Sooooo wish I was back there today!

Another sunny outlook from Jonah's at Whale Beach in Sydney! Our children gave us a night there for our 30th wedding anniversary and it was absolutely beautiful! I can thoroughly recommend it!

And yes ... I was awake for sunrise at Jonah's! It was spectacular! So, although we desperately need the rain, I am wishing I was in a hotter sunnier place today!

Needlework Ladies

Lyn had this beautiful bag last week which her dear friend Ros had made for her. It was one of the squares from the "Breast of Friends" quilt which feautured for about 8 months in the "Homespun" magazine. This one was Leanne Beasley's square and I loved the verse!

We started to lay out the blocks for our next raffle quilt which was fun deciding where all the different coloured baskets and flowers should go!
And Asta is stitching a beautiful heart of flowers - the colours are just gorgeous - we're looking forward to seeing the finished project Asta!

More Stitching on the Bay Projects

Here are the rest of the "Stitching on the Bay" projects for this coming Saturday 29th May 2010! This lovely stitched and appliqued notebook cover is a great idea!

We love the idea of this cute felt bookmark with a painted button! We hope you like it too!

This embroidered journal cover will brighten up the dullest of folders! We hope the ladies attending the "Stitching on the Bay" day will enjoy the six projects on offer! We are looking forward to getting together with them all and spending a lovely day stitching, eating and doing lots of chatting too!!

Stitching on the Bay Projects

Sylvia and I are getting ready for our next Stitching on the Bay day which is on Saturday 29th May 2010 in Batemans Bay. Here are some of the projects we will be teaching on the day! We had a fabulous day teaching these same projects in Canberra not long ago! This little felt purse with applique and embroidery is to hold essential sewing items!
Canvas work is always a favourite and this bright and cheery needle roll is fun to stitch!
And this stitcher's pocket will hold a few sewing bits and pieces and makes a great gift for a special sewing friend!

Sewing Etui & Chelsea Bloom Quilt

I found this beautiful sewing etui on a visit to one of my favourite shops "Sew & Tell" at Berry!

When the box is opened, it is full of sewing necessities!

Jennifer has just completed her version of the "Chelsea Bloom" quilt! The colours are fantastic - I love it - and it's a special gift for a friend's significant birthday!

Beautiful Pincushion

I have just received a beautiful pincushion from Lynne in Glasgow as part of an exchange. The stitching is beautiful and she also sent a gorgeous little keyring with a tiny pair of stork scissors attached! Perfect and much appreciated Lynne - thankyou!

Also something I haven't seen before - some perfumed threads! I'm looking forward to stitching with these and enjoying the aroma! Thanks so much Lynne!

Beauty is Timeless Cushion

I have been truly blessed! I am the very very fortunate winner of Jenny of Elefantz beautiful "beauty is timeless" cushion. I bid by silent auction for the cushion for a very worthwhile cause - providing clean delivery kits for mothers giving birth in Somalia. Jenny very kindly offered her cushion to raise funds and I was lucky enough to win. So thankyou Jenny for your beautiful heart for these women and for being an inspiration to us all!

Stitching on the Bay Projects

I'm loving the Picassa collage feature and played around with the photos of the projects for the "Stitching on the Bay" day which Sylvia and I are conducting in Batemans Bay on 29th May. There are six projects in total and for the ladies who are coming, next Monday I will post individual photos of the projects so you can see in a bit closer detail, the colours and fabrics being used!

And so... still playing with "collage" - I "collaged" a few of my recent needlework pieces and here is the result!

Extravagance Womens Conference & a Graduation

Our "Extravagance" Christian Women's Conference was a great success and I thought I would share the dramatic artwork of a woman praying which was the centrepiece in the church for the conference. And the beautiful red flowers were just divine!

More red flowers, lots of happy ladies and some great teaching was enjoyed by all!

I missed the conference opening on Friday night because our eldest daughter graduated from university on Friday afternoon in Sydney so we had a quick trip to Sydney and back on Friday to celebrate the occasion! Proud parents and happy daughter, Ashleigh!

Wednesday Needlework

My Needlework ladies never cease to amaze me with their creativity! Tricia made this beautiful little horse with embroidered blanket after Jenny had bought her the pattern in Melbourne! What a lovely friend!

Any Shirley had finished off her beautiful little canvas work scissor humbug with a black background which looks fantastic!

And clever Osla had just whipped up these three gorgeous crochet bags - different sizes and colours - but very similar to the billums which I have seen in Solomon Islands! Well done ladies! Very inspirational to us all!

Extravagance Gifts

This afternoon I have been wrapping and organising gifts for the stall at the "Extravagance" Christian Women's Conference which is being held at our church this weekend! I have tied soooooo many bows!

These beautiful gifts have come from Lucinda at "Inspirational Verse" who is so very creative with her words and gifts! I have just put some finishing touches to some of the gifts to make the stall look "extravagantly beautiful"!

And "With you life's full of happiness and smiles" on the front of this journal says it all!

Patchwork Sewing Satchel

This is the crazy patchwork sewing satchel I have made which we will be doing at Needlework next week! I have filled it with stuffing but it would be great as a hold all for all those little sewing bits and pieces or a small project!

I just loved this range of fabrics "Cherish Nature" by Moda Fabrics which I bought recently! I must be going through a "bright" phase at present! Love the aqua blue and brown together, with a little touch of green!

Mothers Day & Baby Ted

What a glorious sunny day it was in Sydney yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day with our family. We enjoyed a beautiful breakfast together at my sister's house and this was the spectacular view out to sea - it was such a beautiful colour!

When my family all get together, there are 24! My niece had another beautiful little boy 3 weeks ago and his name is Ted and I was lucky enough to have lots of cuddles! This now brings the count to 25!

Exquisite flowers on the table as we enjoyed a yummy breakfast together!

And the reason for the day - celebrating mothers everywhere! Here is my mum and I - I think she's shrinking!! It was really special to have such a lovely day together!
