Joanne's Penny Bag and Creative Ladies

Jo was thrilled to show us her finished penny bag this morning .... it looks great with the lovely handles she purchased at the Craft Fair ...

Chris finished off her counted thred needle roll in gorgeous Christmas colours!

I could have very easily snuck this one home in my bag (but she was looking!!)   Jenni R has finished this beautiful quilt and handquilted it all as well!   Lovely colours and love the design .... just very special Jenni!

A close up of the centre and Jenni's beautiful quilting !

She has also finished off this cot quilt and added a few designs of her own to it ... another fantastic finish Jenni!

I really love the zebra block on this one !

And Asta had her "friends" needlecase with her last night .... a lovely design and I think this was a gift to her at the Jukejema Retreat last year ??

Chooky's Secret Santa Christmas Swap

For the past few years I participated in Chookyblue's Secret Santa Christmas Swap and I have just signed up to do it all again this year!!   It is such fun to gather together something special for someone who I may not even know and bless them at Christmas with a special handmade gift and decoration.    So .... I'm looking forward to seeing who my Secret Swap partner is this time ....   my creative thinking cap is on already !!

Sharon from Lillabelle Lane has created this little button to put onto your blog so those who comment don't have to go through that silly word verification business!!  Thanks Sharon .. from all of us frustrated bloggers with bad eyesight who spend hours trying to make out numbers!!  Well done!!  You can go to Sharon's blog to download the button, or copy from the picture below!!

This weeks project is this lovely embroidered purse complete with zipper and lining .... here is my version which has been stitched with variegated blue/green threads ....

And this is Sylvia's version which has been worked in various muted DMC threads!

Behind this gorgeous vase of daffodils is one excited bride to be .... we have had a busy day doing wedding planning .... lots of fun !!    We have had our heads together .... computers whirring along .... we have flowers, cakes, marquees and numerous other things running through our minds ...... and it is only 13 weeks away today!!

One of my lovely needlework ladies, Jacqueline, recently returned from the Amish region in the USA and bought me this beautiful patchwork piece from an Amish village.   I love it .... thankyou so much Jacqueline for thinking of me on your holiday!   I'm not sure I would tackle such a difficult looking folded star but it is very effective and just gorgeous .... love it!

And the new issue of Primitive Quilts has arrived on my doorstep today ... full of lots of lovely projects!

The back cover is even inspiring !

The projects all look great .... will definitely have to make time to put something together from this lovely magazine!     Hope your weekend is productive and that you enjoy a little bit (or a lot) of stitching!!

Back to Needlework

After a week away, it is always lovely to walk back into Needlework and be welcomed by all the smiling faces!!   Lots of productivity while I have been away up north in the sun (and came back with a head cold - how does that happen??)....  Jenny has finished off her embroidered sewing basket from the "Stitching in the Hills" Retreat and has added a few extra ideas of her own like a handle and some lace around the outside too!  Doesn't it look great?

This is the side view with the lace ....

Pauline has been very productive finishing off this table runner ...

And she has been making some cute mobile phone holders in the shape of a cicada !

AND ... she is finishing off the fourth piece of this lovely hardanger set ...

A close up of the scissor fob .... the fabric is pale pink and the thread she has used is a pale blue ..

And the thread bag .....

And the needlecase ..... and the fourth piece is the pincushion ... I'm sure she will have that finished to show next week!!  Just beautiful Pauline !

Kereen is crocheting a lovely rug with all different square motifs ... very colourful ...

And Sue was happy with her finished jug of flowers cushion (although I don't think she thought I would put this photo of her on my blog!!)   Well done Sue!

This time last week ..... Stitching in the Hills

This time last week we were well into our second full day of "Stitching in the Hills" !!!   There were lots of lovely finished projects which some of the ladies had bought along .... Jeanette has recently completed a class with Wendy Williams and she bought along this cute felt pincushion to show us ...  love the bright colours !

Jeanette (very productive) also had finished these lovely name tags from a previous stitching day for her and Rhonda !

Pam and Joanne had made lovely bags using the gorgeous batik fabrics ... beautiful designs!

Jeanette had also made these cute little felt birds from a recent Homespun magazine!

Ann had finished this journal/file cover from one of our previous stitching days ... and she was using it !

Trish had a lovely needlecase with beautiful embroidered flowers  .... completed  by none other than one of my needlework ladies, Margaret!   Margaret does such beautiful fine work and this needlecase is no exception!

This cute little turtle pincushion was very sweet!

Gwen's lovely embroidered crazy patchwork needlecase !

This is one of my favourite things to stitch .... a needleroll!   Same purpose as a pincushion but to be used for your needles when stitching a project  .... both stitched by Barbara (I think ??) .... the one on the right was from our last Stitching Day and the one on the left was from a pattern she had !!   Just gorgeous .... even though she couldn't bring herself to stick needles into them!!

Another project from a previous Stitching Day .... Brenda had made up her project into a lovely bag and attached the painted house button onto the front!    It looks lovely with the felt needlecase and scissor keeper beside it ... also from a previous Stitching Day!

And the back of Brenda's bag looks fantastic !

And Audrey has done such an amazing job on Anni Downs new bag from her new book!   It looks just lovely!    So many photos ... so many lovely finished projects .... such talented ladies .... such a lovely weekend at "Stitching in the Hills 2012"  !!
