Wednesday Needlework

It's pouring with rain here today .... but that didn't stop lots of ladies coming out to Needlework today!   We enjoyed a lovely morning while the rain was falling outside!!   Some lovely projects on display ..... here is a shoe bag which I recently finished which we will be working on next week!   My favourite orange shoes are peeking out the bottom of the bag!

This is one of Oriel's beautiful quilts which Jenny bought to show!

And another of Oriel's gorgeous brightly coloured tropical fish quilts!

Jennifer finished another of her lovely bags - this time with black handles!

Vere bought along a gorgeous black and white king size quilt which is being raffled for the Rotary Club of Batemans Bay to raise money to eradicate polio throughout the world - great cause - lots of tickets sold!    You can contact Vere through me if you wish to buy tickets.

Pauline's Beautiful Quilt

There were some beautiful quilts and embroidery on display at Needlework on Wednesday - Pauline has made this beautiful three dimensional quilt for a special gift - it is just gorgeous!   This photo doesn't do her beautiful work justice - so I took some close-ups!

Each and every flower is folded and stitched!

Some have a lot of detail!

The colours are divine!

The fuschias look very real!    I'm sure this gift will be greatly cherished!  Beautiful work Pauline!

Weekend in Sydney

I have just returned from a few days in Sydney - enjoying the wonderful weather, going out for a beautiful breakfast and dinner and lunch - way too much to eat - good friends for company - and not a stitch in sight!     We decided to use our Christmas gift from our children - breakfast a Jonahs at Whale Beach in Sydney - and on an absolutely stunning Sydney morning - how beautiful does it look?  Here we are on the balcony overlooking Whale Beach!

The gorgeous view from our table (taken through the window) - doesn't get much better than this!   We went with good friends Ray and Kerry and celebrated Ray's 60th birthday as well!!

Exceptional fruit salad for starters!

Croissants ...... mmmmmmm !!

I forgot to take a photo of my dill and fetta omelette which was scrumptious!   But here are David and I enjoying fresh mango juice to start!!

A yummy latte!

Then a bit later on - in fact much later on - we enjoyed lunch overlooking Walsh Bay in Sydney - a favourite Italian restaurant now !!

The spectacular view over Walsh Bay!    Then a long drive home through a big thunderstorm and driving rain!!  Home now - off to bed - no stitching done - so will have to play catch up on the stitching during this week!

An Afternoon of Colour!

After a beautiful sunny morning here and a glorious walk along the beach and a swim .... it is now raining .... torrential downpour!!!   So what's a girl to do????    Seek inspiration from colour!!  I'm delving into a few projects this afternoon ..... I'm playing with colouring in with my new Derwent watercolours and embroidery .....

Going through my thread collection to find the right colour for a machine project I'm finishing off!

I was lucky to win two tins of Gutermann threads at the Quilt Show in Sydney a couple of years ago ..... so I really should be able to find the right colour!

Finished off this little embroidered pincushion on linen for a friend's birthday!

Found my tiny Santa decoration which I thought I had lost!   He is sitting on another pincushion!

And all will be revealed shortly with this gorgeous fabric ..... a bit more embroidery to happen on this project before I can share!

And part of a cot quilt I'm making for a friend!

And .... when the sun was shining this morning ... and we came back from our walk and swim .... this was one tired little puppy !!   Enjoy your Sunday .... wherever you are and whatever you may be doing!

The Start of a Raffle Quilt!!

It was great to be back at Needlework last night and this morning and to catch up with all the ladies!  We have been in recess for the christmas holidays for 8 weeks so it was definitely a time of lots of chatter and a little bit of stitching!   Great to see some lovely finished pieces and some new works in progress!    It was also lovely to receive back so many embroidered squares for our new raffle quilt for 2012.   Here are some of the squares - all beautifully embroidered and waiting to be stitched together into what promises to be another gorgeous quilt!

I gave the ladies a piece of fabric for their Christmas homework with no direction as to colour or stitches to be used .... and these are the result !!

Hopefully we will have enough squares to make two quilts!

Love the use of this beautifully coloured variegated thread!

And on the background of the natural coloured fabric, these ladies stitched in white really stand out!

A gorgeous basket of sunflowers!

A beautifully stitched gardening angel!

And another beautifully stitched colourful lady stitching in the garden!   The designs are from various designers and the ladies have certainly left their individual touch on each piece!  I'm looking forward to seeing what comes in next week!!
