stitching@bodalla projects

Next Saturday 24th August, I will be spending the day with the lovely Bodalla Embroidery group and sharing some recent projects with them ....... yes another stitching day .... this time "stitching@bodalla"!!     The projects are varied and here is a snapshot for those ladies who will be attending .....     Embroidered Pincushion and Thread Keeper .... your fabric for embroidery is provided and you will need to think about your choice of fabrics to complete this project at home !

Another project is this Embroidered Bag/Sewing Pouch .... you will need to bring your choice of fabrics if you want to finish this on the day, together with a sewing machine to sew it together !  Your embroidery fabric will be provided.

A cute little Canvas Work Scissor Keeper (a companion to the Ribbon & Roses Pincushion made a little while ago) ....  the DMC colours I have used are pinks 223, 224, ecru, greens 3012 & 3013.  (The same pinks and greens were used for the Embroidered Pincushion above).

An Applique and Embroidered Journal Cover .... your background striped fabric and reds for flowers will be provided but you will need to bring some green fabric for the leaves ....

A small Felt Mat with applique houses and embroidered trees and shrubs ... your felt will be provided, together with Vliesofix and you will need to bring your embroidery threads to stitch with ....

A Painted and Applique Jug of Flowers .... this has been framed but you could make it into a lovely cushion or small bag if you wish ....   background fabric and jug fabric (green and white) is provided and the paints will be provided for you to paint on the day.  You will need your embroidery threads to finish this off!

Don't forget to bring your sewing kit which should comprise scissors, a variety of needles, small embroidery hoop, pigma pen or lead pencil for tracing, small ruler, small paper scissors, sewline glue pen if you have one for the hexagons, and whatever else you think you may need .... needless to say my sewing kit comes in a very large bag !!     Bring your camera for some more photos if you wish, but most of all, you can expect to spend a lovely day of peaceful stitching and friendship!  Looking forward to catching up with you all on Saturday !

Stitching Day Finishes and Flowers in My Garden

Some of the ladies who attended "Stitching in the Hills" a couple of weeks ago have bought along some of their finished projects and they look fantastic!   Here is a gorgeous front and back of one of the stitched needlework bags by Kereen ....

This is the back of the canvas work project !

And not content with one table runner, Sue has started on another .... don't they look great ?

Chris has had a beautiful wood turned bowl made to house her wildflower embroidery which we did in class about 10 years ago!  Can't rush these things ... but isn't it beautiful ?

Heading down to hang out clothes this morning and I spied my orchids have flowered ... it always amazes me that I don't do anything to them (in fact it could be called neglect) and they flower beautifully each year !

And the detail in these grevillea are just incredible ... another flower that gets no attention but continues to amaze when in bloom !   I'm looking forward to a weekend at home and a chance to do a bit of stitching and a bit around the house !   Hope you are planning a lovely weekend too !

Townsville and "Country Threads" Project

I had a busy week last week after our Stitching in the Hills Retreat and then we managed to fit in four days in Townsville visiting our youngest daughter Chelsea who recently moved up there!   We had a lovely warm time ... the weather was perfect and the water was an amazingly warm swimming temperature .... which I love !!   The view from our accommodation on The Strand looking out to Magnetic Island !

We climbed to the top of Castle Hill on Saturday and enjoyed the lovely views over Townsville and out to Magnetic Island !

On Sunday we headed out to Magnetic Island for the day and it was absolutely beautiful !

We hired little mini mokes and drove around to all the lovely beaches ....

Chelsea and Kye thought it was funny to drive around in these tiny little cars with us four adults !  Lots of laughs and fun !   Four days went all too quickly and we had to farewell our youngest and her gorgeous young man again until next time (which I hope will be soon)!!

And in the post today was a lovely surprise .... Country Threads Vol 14 No 5 .... with one of my projects on the front cover (bottom centre) ....   "Trellis Garden" Embroidery Bag ...

I just wish I could style photos like they do ... they make everything look so good !!     Back with more later !!

It's always nice to see all the ladies using their lovely sewing bits and pieces .... Maria's little collection of needlecase, scissor keeper, fob and thimble pip were just exquisite !

Show and Tell was a highlight and here is Heather's gorgeous quilt !

Beth made some lovely bags for her friends ... three of them ... all different and just lovely !
