Making Kits and Patterns ....

I am having a productive afternoon making patterns and kits for the upcoming Needlework Cruise .... I have been invited to be a tutor and have to make complete kits for my projects I am teaching as well as some patterns for sale on the Cruise .....   making lots of progress today with some of these ....

The Ribbons and Roses Pincushion and Scissor Fob above is one of the classes I am teaching ....

And the Love to Sew Sewing Basket above is another ....    full kits required for each of these .... thanks to Larraine from "Up in Annie's Room" for the gorgeous wooden buttons I have used in this design ....

And these are some of the patterns I will be taking with me too ...

I'm trying decide which photo is the best for my "Australian Wildflowers Jewellery Box", my third project I will be teaching, and will post up that and some more of my pattern pictures in the next few days ....

I hope everyone is enjoying their Australia Day Long Weekend (in Australia) ...

I'm going to be sitting and stitching for a little while shortly .... just to relax ....

A Visit to Steph's ....

As I had an appointment in Moruya this afternoon, I decided to spend a little bit of time afterwards in Steph's beautiful fabric shop ....   I was very spoilt by my Needlework ladies at Christmas time and they gave me a voucher to spend down there so I had a wonderful browse and a catch up with Steph ... and did a little shopping!!

There are so many lovely displays ... I realised how much I had missed my often daily or at least weekly visits when I used to work down there ...

I couldn't resist some of Anni Downs new fabrics ...

I just ran my hands across the "Scrumptious" range of fabrics ...

This was so cute ... perhaps something a grandmother might make ??

Oh dear ... more grandmother knitting to be done ...

Gorgeous coloured pre cut felts ...

Some cute kits and designs by Lynette Anderson ...

And this lovely crooked houses quilt ... I loved the colours and the orange backing fabric ...

And what did I buy???    I'll let you know tomorrow !!

Long Weekend in Sydney

Just back from a busy extra long weekend in Sydney ... we have packed up and moved our son Sam and his girlfriend Nadia out of their apartment, Nadia has flown out to her new job in New York yesterday, while Sam is patiently waiting on a job offer for himself (and a quick recovery from illness which prevents him from flying for another month) and we celebrated 36 years together since we first met on a blind date!    Talk about hectic !  Here are the gorgeous couple farewelling each other at the airport ... sad to see her go, but exciting times ahead for both of them in the Big Apple!!

We celebrated with a waterfront dinner in Sydney on Monday night ... 36 years to the day since we first met on a blind date !   It was raining but the food was amazing as always !

Mmmmmm.... no explanation needed ....

Amazing dinner .... zucchini flowers filled with delicious bits and pieces !

Beautiful flowers ....

Spectacular frangipani outside my sister's home in Sydney ....

Along with these amazing gum blossoms we saw on our morning walk ....

Productive Kit Making Day

Whilst not working in the office today, I am working at home making up kits for the upcoming Needlework Cruise in mid February ....

Winding threads onto little cards becomes very time consuming I've discovered .... and all of these threads are still to be cut up and wound on ....

Taking photos to print to put onto the front of patterns .... all time consuming but a fun day of creativity at home ....

Blog to Print - Peaceful Threads 2013

Today I received my "Peaceful Threads 2013" book from Blog to Print .... I love this time of the year when I get to look back over the previous year in print.   It is such a good idea to print out your blog if you can ... I use it as a journal of sorts to keep track of all that I do in my needlework and with my family and friends .... here is the cover I chose for this past year .... with one my favourite canvas work pieces ....

I love how easy it is to read and love all the pictures ....

And looking back through I can see my projects for the upcoming Needlework Cruise which leaves Sydney on 13th November (whoops ... 13TH FEBRUARY) .... I'm busy putting kits together at the moment for my projects which accounts for my lack of stitching time ....

And this amazing thing has flowered outside our back door in the last few days ... not sure what it is ...????

But perhaps I could design an embroidery around it ???

Back at work ....

Day 3 back at work and I am definitely missing the beach, my kids and my afternoon siestas !!!   However this is the view that greets me each morning at work so its not too bad to put up with !

Hit the ground running back at work after 2 weeks off so am too tired at night to do anything at the moment but have dinner, a cup of tea and hit the pillow!   Here is the makings of a crochet rug which Ashleigh is making which she pulled out while she was here over Christmas ....   I taught her this design a few months ago and it is the same design my Gran taught me when I was 10!   I love it!

This is a bit of a close up of her first attempts at crocheting .... I'm thinking this may well turn into a little blanket for her baby which is due in March ....

Cooking related projects don't feature terribly often on my blog .... but this Lemon Meringue Pie was a hit on Sunday night .... pretty happy how it turned out .... and it tasted even better !!

More Canvas Work on the go ...

I'm having a bit of a canvas work phase at present .... probably because it is small and easily portable ... I have been seen to be stitching on the beach ....   this is a Sue Hawkins kit I bought in England and it is quite large .... a needle case sewing etui and scissor fob ... such lovely colours and I adore the hand-dyed threads which were included in the kit .... this is one small square from the back section ...

Our local village had a market this morning and we came home with delicious local honey, a cob of wholemeal crusty bread and some mangoes ....

And my friend Tracey takes such gorgeous photos and had a stall there so I bought some of her amazing photos of our local area ....

And couldn't resist the blueberries from the local berry farm either .... needless to say these are all gone now ....

Canvas Work Scissor Fob

I'm enjoying having some quiet stitching time in between making meals for the house full of kids and friends .... I have finished off another of these little cubed scissor fobs ....  I think canvas work is one of my all time favourite things to do ....

Ash and Tim had fun throwing the Go Pro up in the air to get this photo ....

And Elliott has had some great kite surfing sessions when the wind was blowing and surf wasn't up ....

Gotta love summer days ..... back to work on Monday ....

Happy New Year !!

Happy New Year .... I hope 2014 brings you great joy, much fun, lots of laughter, quality stitching time, and more adventures with friends and family ... we are enjoying beautiful weather and quality beach time so thought this photo would be a great way to start 2014!

And I have today stitched together this little scissor fob which doubles as a thimble holder too ...

And this is my antique thimble .... well used by David's great aunt ... and given to me by his mother for safe keeping .... and amazingly it fits my finger perfectly !   I love it and I would love to know the stories it holds and all about the pieces which were worked on ...

I love the colours in this little canvas work design by Sue Hawkins ...

And the back opens up to house my thimble which is nicely tucked away inside ...

We had a lovely meal out at Tallwood the other night to farewell Elliott before he flew out to Perth ...

And a nice photo before we took him up to Sydney to the airport yesterday ....  we have loved having them all here for Christmas .... but don't enjoy the goodbyes ....

Hope you are having a fantastic New Years Day and that 2014 brings you all you wish for and more!
