Not so lazy Sundays ....

It's a beautiful sunny Sunday here on the South Coast and I have been not so lazy today ....  I have just potted some little herb pots for my back deck and am tackling a little bit of creativity this afternoon .... which involves my favourite Derwent Artists pencils ....

I have sewn together another of these little canvas work decorations for a gift !

This little bundle looked like this half an hour ago and I am now cutting into them and playing with shapes !!

Sewing tools in this little sewing bag from a Leanne Beasley design ....

And I'm loving my new purchase from yesterday .... a Living Locket .... purchased locally in Mogo ... a few of us recently gave our friend Shirley a gift of one of these for her special birthday and I decided I needed to have one for me ...  mine has a freshwater pearl and a cross hanging from the top and inside is a Tree of Life, faith, hope and love buttons, a tiny orange charm (just because I'm an orange girl), a rose charm  and a tiny little airplane (just because I like to travel) ....  Living Lockets are on Facebook here and they do a great mail order too  .... lots of lovely ideas and I can see some gorgeous Christmas gifts coming up ....

And a bunch of gorgeous Australian Wildflowers I picked up yesterday on my little shop .... wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying your Sunday !!

Judy's Dilly Bag

The very creative Angie from Gnome Angel  has organised a "Dilly Bag-A-Long" through her Fussy Cutters Club using the gorgeous Dilly Bag pattern designed by Judy Newman of "A Very Fine House" .... and I'm joining in the fun !!    I was lucky enough to be a fellow tutor on the Needlework Cruise earlier this year with Judy Newman and she is just such a talented designer and a lovely person !  I purchased one of her dilly bags made from gorgeous Liberty fabrics and others on the cruise and I treasure it, so I thought I would make another .....

This is the pattern which you can purchase from Amitie Textiles or online through the Gnome Angel site .... and it goes together like a dream ....

So I have pulled out a few of my favourite French General fabrics and I'm going to do a little fussy cutting and playing today I hope ....   If you want to join in the fun, have a look at the Gnome Angel blog by clicking on the highlighted name at the top of my post ....

I'm loving the scent of this gorgeous bunch of flowers bought to me by dear friends Bill and Kim from Canberra on the weekend ....

They are like an extra set of grandparents to our children and they came down to catch up with Jed (and Ash and Tim) and Elliott and Andrea who were over for a visit from Perth for the weekend  ....

Elliott and Andrea enjoying their time with a happy smiling little Jed ...

A beach walk with Jed wearing Davey's hat .... a little too big for him ....

And the dogs loving the water .....

It was a lovely weekend of family and friends .... but we were missing Chelsea and Kye (Townsville and overseas) and Sam and Nadia in New York ....

Chookyblues Christmas Swap

I have joined in Chookyblue's Secret Christmas Swap again and have put my thinking cap on about what to make !  This is always a fun swap .....

And I'm happy to share this great idea from Susan on her Thimblestitch blog .... did you know you can now have a small portable lightbox .... simply download Light Table for iPad (it's free) onto your iPad ..... and it works well because I have just downloaded it onto mine ....

Back home and back at Needlework

It is always lovely to travel and adventure, but equally lovely to return home to family and friends .... we missed little Jed and all our family, but had a great time in New York and the States.   It was great to be back at Needlework this week too .... and the ladies had lots of lovely things to share .... Asta has made this gorgeous little needle case for a friend .... beautiful stitching ...

Margaret is putting the finishing touches onto her stitchers cushion from our Retreat in August ....

Lorraine is knitting very fancy socks .... she tells me the wool is designed that way ... but I think they look great !

Chris has finished off a couple of little canvas work fobs ....

Carol has finished off her version of the little stitched purse we made this past term ...

The South Coast & Country Quilters Exhibition was on in Batemans Bay over the weekend and although I didn't get there, from all reports it sounded fantastic.  There were some little short workshops and some of the ladies participated in those .... here is Tricia and Gwen's little pieces from their workshops ...

Osla continues to amaze us with her gorgeous crochet and she has made another fabulous rug ...
very bright and cheery !!

Margaret has got the crochet bug too and has made this spectacular rug also ...

I found a few gorgeous little zippered bags in the patchwork shop I visited in New York .... so a couple of them had to come with me ....

And I participated in a swap of "ugly" fabrics with my online stitching group and this is what De made with my ugly rust coloured fabric .... little pots in front of a window ... the brief was to make a 12" quilt for your partner and it was great to come home and find this gift from De ...thanks De !!

And a post would not be completed without little Jed ... here he is sitting up and studying a book which we bought for him in New York ....  you would swear he was reading the pages ....

And he loves it !!    Boy did we miss his smiling face on our travels !!

Stitching finally ....

Last day in paradise today but I managed the tiniest bit of stitching yesterday afternoon ....

Nothing too fancy or difficult but a little something which will become bigger .... And posting to the blog wouldn't have been as easy these holidays without this newly purchased iPad .... Much cheaper in New York than at home ....

If you look carefully you can see the picture is of David and I on the Brooklyn Bridge!

And another great purchase was a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses with readers inserted into them so I don't have to wear two pairs of glasses in the sun when I'm reading .... What a great invention !!! I was very excited when I saw these !!

So this is our last day on Maui and the end if a 5 week adventure ... We have loved every minute and look forward to going back to visit Sam and Nadia again in New York soon !!!!  Our dinner last night was pretty special too ....

San Francisco

Have had an exhausting day seeing the sights of San Francisco ....  Walked from Fishermans Wharf down to the Golden Gate Bridge then across the Bridge and around to Sausalito ... Very hot and sunny so we decided to have lunch in a lovely restaurant over the water and then get the ferry back to Fishermans Wharf ....

Beautiful flower baskets everywhere ....

We took a trolley car up to Lombard Street first and then walked down the crooked little street ...

Stunning fuchsias on the way down ...

After that long walk a beverage was in order ... Mango dacquiri and a Mohito ... Not both mine!!

Delicious lunch .... I can't believe we will be home next week and back to work !!!  Then maybe I can get back into some serious stitching and blog about stitching things!  This has been great though and we are enjoying the last week of our holiday and heading to Maui tomorrow ....
