A Bridal Shower

Today was a special day for my "other" daughter .... another Ashleigh .... who is being married in two weeks to the man of her dreams ..... we all got together to celebrate with a pre wedding lunch on the waterfront .......  unfortunately some of the girls had left when we got around to taking a group photo ... but here are some who were left .... The bride to be is in the blush pink dress in the middle at the back ....

It is lovely to have Chelsea and Kye at home with us for a couple of weeks ... he has just returned from an overseas posting and they are organising their own wedding for December this year ... he just helped to carry in some flowers today and got caught by the camera .....

And here is myself, Ash and Chelsea before we left .... but Jed didn't really want his mum to leave ... so had to have more cuddles and get in the photo too ....

Stitch A Long Blocks for February finished !!

I have been busy at work and busy at play .... the playing bit is my stitching time !!   Although I cannot show what I have been working on because they are projects for our upcoming "Stitching on the Lake" days in Canberra on Saturday 28th March and Saturday 11 April 2015 !!    If you are interested in coming, please leave a comment below or email me and I will provide you with some details !!     But something I can show you are the blocks I have completed for February for the Natures Journey Stitch A Long .....

This is such a lovely project to work on and I have ordered the Block of the Month from Anni Downs at Hatched and Patched .... I love all of the fabrics Anni has used in her quilt so I went straight to the source to get my fabrics ....

I love all the little blocks but have changed a few to small hearts which I liked the look of better than the pattern .... I always have to change something I know !!!    And I have stitched "2015" because I have complete confidence that I will finish it this year !!

Day 2 of The Artists Challenge

Two days ago I was tagged by the very talented Christine Elizabeth from The Margie and Bert Studio to take part in a 5 day artists challenge. The idea of the challenge is to post 3 pieces of (my) work per day for 5 days. With each post you acknowledge the person who nominated you and tag a new artist. You can use your own designs however if you are using someone else’s pattern or design, acknowledge and promote their work in the post.
These are another three of my designs to share .... my Embroidered Australian Wildflower Jewel Box ...

Love to Stitch Sewing Box ....

Embroidered Sampler Needle Roll

I have invited Dzintra Ingrid to share some of her creativity today .....

Day 1 of the Artists Challenge

Yesterday I was tagged by the very talented Christine Elizabeth from The Margie and Bert Studio to take part in a 5 day artists challenge. The idea of the challenge is to post 3 pieces of (my) work per day for 5 days. With each post you acknowledge the person who nominated you and tag a new artist. You can use your own designs however if you are using someone else’s pattern or design, acknowledge and promote their work in the post.
I like to my work to cross many design spectrums and I love the variety of needlework, embroidery, and patchwork of any kind. I love time to create new and varied designs and enjoying sharing my passion with others.
These designs are my creations .... a Christmas Canvas Work piece with ribbons, a creative embroidery needle case and pincushion and a weighted thread keeper and pincushion .... more designs will follow tomorrow.
I hope you enjoy a glimpse into my creative hobby. And I would like to now invite  Sylvia Frazer to join the challenge and share with us all.

Folded star pincushion

I have been playing around with a folded star pincushion and trying to perfect the corners and size .... using some gorgeous Anni Downs fabrics .....

Then I decided there wasn't enough variation in the colours to show the star properly ....

The back of the pincushion ...

So then I tried some lovely red fabric and another Anni Downs fabric ....

And this time you can see the star shape much better !!
\

Pincushions .... you can never have too many !!!

And it was such a great day yesterday catching up with Jed (and Ash and Tim) after their return from a week in Fiji ....

They have had a lovely time relaxing and surfing on Tavarua for a week ....

Embroidered Travel Needlecase

I have finally taken some photos of our first Needlework project for the year .... Needlework starts again on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning and I'm keen to get together with the ladies to see what they have been up to over the holidays !!    This Embroidered Travel Needlecase will fit a pack or two of needles and your stitching scissors .....

I have used a lovely paisley Liberty print for my lining and appliqué and used the colours in the fabrics for my embroidery ....

I also stitched a colourful scissor fob/pincushion to match ....  for those ladies who wish to make this project this week, you will need to bring along some homespun and your embroidery cottons and needles to stitch with .... See you on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning ..... there is lots to catch up on !!

It has been a busy week this week at work, especially as we had Monday off for the Australia Day holiday !  On the weekend my family got together (minus my younger sister) to celebrate my brother's 60th birthday .... we had a lovely lunch by the beach in Sydney .... here we are about to enjoy an amazing dessert to celebrate .... me, Wendy, Mum, Robyn, Susan and my dad and Mark in front ....

We don't all get together very often but this is a great shot of my mum and dad with their only son ...

And mum and the girls .... we ate way too much lunch .... but had a great catch up and beautiful weather to enjoy the outdoors ....
