Christmas Day

It was an alternate year in our household for Christmas celebrations which means that our children go off to their in-laws families for Christmas ..... we are very fortunate that one of our daughters lives around the corner and so do her in-laws so we had a lovely morning sharing gifts with the little people in their house .... here is Ash, Clay and Lyndie ....  we bought Lyndie a Lucy the Lamb from Cuddle and Kind which is just gorgeous and for each doll purchased the family provide 10 meals for underprivileged children ... such a lovely idea from the kind folk at Cuddle and Kind .....

Christmas morning cuddles with Lyndie and Lucy the Lamb ....

Three generations .... me, Lyndie and Ash and Chelsea (whose first baby is due in early May 2019) ....

Ash and Tim and their gorgeous little family .... Jed and Clay were sooooooo excited ......

Kye and Chelsea cuddling baby Lyndie .....

And after gifts and breakfast, Chelsea and Kye headed south to his uncle for Christmas Lunch and we headed off to the beach for a swim with the kids .... while Lyndie dozed under the beach umbrella .....

I hope your Christmas Day was special and spent with family and friends .....

Christmas Eve

Finally on Christmas Eve, and with only a few hours to spare, I finished Malia's Christmas Stocking.  Another beautiful Shepherds Bush design ..... here is the stocking without the added trinkets and charms which really do finish it off ....

A quick afternoon visit to the beach for a bit of Christmas Eve relaxation ..... and we almost had the beach to ourselves ....

And here is the finished stocking with charms, buttons, beads and trinkets all added ..... ready to hang on Christmas Eve ......

I'm really happy that I managed to finish the stockings for each of our new granddaughters .... Lyndie and Malia ..... some treasured family heirlooms ....

And with a son on deployment overseas, we were really happy to hear that he received his care package on Christmas Eve too ..... the possum knitted beanie was a big hit !!   And his gorgeous little boy Jonah had painted him lots of pictures too.     Andrea had made him a memory quilt with lots of photos before he left which is hanging in his room .... lovely reminders of home ..... we are looking forward to having Andrea, Jonah and Malia visit in a couple of days time .....

And on Christmas Eve one of the local Santa's helpers drove around in his vintage car and stopped to say hello along the way .....   just goes to show that Santa's helpers use many many forms of transport ....

Christmas Gifts & Shepherds Bush

I had a bit of a busy week last week with a couple of Christmas get togethers ..... one of which was a lovely lunch and catch up with Sylvia in Braidwood .... over lunch and a couple of coffees we caught up on the past month or two and exchanged Christmas gifts ....

I was a bit spoilt with a beautifully worked little cushion, a lovely Christmas tea towel, some home made shortbread and a lovely little Christmas dish .....

The little cushion is just gorgeous .... anything Sylvia stitches is adorable .... it will join some other treasured  little cushions in a basket on my table .....

Having finished Lyndie's Christmas Stocking last week I really needed  to make a HUGE effort and get Malia's stitched before Christmas also .... even though they won't be down visiting until just after Christmas.  I have had a lovely time stitching in my spare moments and love this particular stocking entitled Jillian by the Shepherds Bush ladies.     Will I get it finished before Christmas ???   I'm working on it !!! Will keep you posted !!

School House Scissor Keeper

I did show this lovely little School House Scissor Keeper recently but what I didn't show is the back of it as I had actually made it for my friend Sylvia for a Christmas gift.       This is a pattern by Sue Hawkins and you all know how much I love Sue Hawkins designs.

As we caught up this week and exchanged gifts, I can now show you the back of the scissor keeper with her name on it.   I thought it so very appropriate as she was a school teacher before retiring and she does love anything with blue on it !!

Whilst babysitting Lyndie and the boys this week, I took some lovely photos to share .....

Lyndie has the most amazing head of hair and has now become a thumb sucker like her big brother Clay and like her mum used to do all those years ago !!

Always a contented baby when they can find their thumb !

As is Clay who was captured while watching a TV show .....

And Jed the clown always has a joke to tell and it breaks me up when he laughs at his own jokes !!!   Such very special times !!

Nadia's 30th Birthday

On the weekend we had a lovely family lunch with Nadia's family to celebrate her 30th birthday which took place last week ....   here are Sam and Nadia on what turned out to be a very hot day ....

Nadia's parents own a farm down south and they have some sheep and on Nadia's birthday a new lamb was born and has been named "noodle" which is Nadia's nickname ..... so very cute !

The little boys were smitten with Noodle .... here are Jed, Clay and Charles (Nadia's sister's little boy) all enjoying patting Noodle ....

Jed loves the elephant statue in the garden .... Nadia's mum is South African and there are lots of beautiful African animals inside and outside at the farm ....

Jed on the Shetland pony with Charles .....

And the boys loved the ride on lawn mower too .....

Treasured family times indeed ..... Happy Birthday Noodle !!

Mill Rose Cottage

When I was in Victoria last week we had a quick visit to Mill Rose Cottage at Ballan.   Always so beautiful and inspiring .....

I LOVE the Liberty room and could easily spend hours just touching the fabric because it is so very beautiful .... and I do love the Liberty sewing machine too !!

I may have added a couple of pieces of Liberty fabric to my stash .....

A beautiful dress on display and a lovely cushion too .....

And all too soon it was back to home and a lovely morning walk along the beach .....

Maree's 60th Birthday

I had a lovely few days in Victoria last weekend with Maree celebrating her 60th birthday .... we have been friends for many years and it was lovely to spend time together with no agenda but to relax and celebrate.

We had a lovely lunch at The Lake House at Daylesford in country Victoria (about 1.5 hours north of Melbourne) which was very special ..... this is my beautiful vegetable tart ..... absolutely melted in my mouth !!

There were some bubbles of course !!!

This was my Peach Melba dessert which when cracked was actually a white chocolate peach shaped dessert and filled with a beautiful peach mousse and raspberry puree and sitting on a bed of peach granita .... delicious !

And Maree's dessert was a chocolate indulgence with passionfruit sorbet and passionfruit .... and a happy birthday message .....

One of the little French Patisserie's which we found in Creswick was beautiful too ....

And we had a visit to the Hepburn Springs Mineral Spa which was just so very relaxing and beautiful ....

Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking No. 3

I have finally finished the Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking I was working on for Lyndie for Christmas.   I have enjoyed stitching this as I do love Shepherds Bush patterns.

This picture is before I added all the little charms and buttons and the ribbon .... it does certainly make a difference to the finished stocking !!

And here is the finished stocking which I bound with a liberty bias binding .... it looks lovely hanging up and now I'm on to the next one for Malia .... I only have 2 weeks till Christmas so will see how I go !!!

And hot off the press this morning ..... our next grandchild at 20 weeks ..... taken this morning and due at the beginning of May 2019 ...... we are looking forward to number 6 ......

Scissor Keeper and Shepherds Bush

This little Scissor Keeper could easily become a Christmas Decoration hanging on my tree too .....

I am making some progress on "Sophie" stocking by Shepherds Bush .... this one will be for Lyndie for this Christmas (hopefully) ....

We had great fun with the boys on Wednesday .... we made an Advent Calendar .... and no not all the chocolates made it home to mummy's house !!!

David and Jed having a quiet lunch together while Clay slept ....

School House Sampler Scissor Keeper

I loved stitching another of these little Sue Hawkins designs when I misplaced my original scissor keeper ... here it is all ready pressed and ready to stitch together ...

And to the finished piece I added a little tassel and a twisted yarn hanger and attached my little scissors ...

We had a beautiful walk on both days of the weekend ... our first weekend at home together (that means by ourselves with no visitors) for ages ..... a walk down down along the beaches on Saturday and a walk northwards along the beaches on  Sunday .... the weather was beautiful ....

The water was crystal clear and so blue and this little pink flower caught my eye ....

Just beautiful .....
