Malia's First Week

On the second day they came home from hospital Elliott and Andrea took two little children out for the day in their new double pram .... it was chilly as you can see ....

Jonah was pretty happy playing protective big brother .....

Malia was all rugged up in a little puffy pink jacket ....

A rare weekend at home for us with a walk along the beach with our dogs and Ash and Tim's dog too ....

They all love being together .....

Followed by a lovely lunch at a local restaurant ... I have had the flu for a couple of weeks and this certainly made me feel a bit better ....

And cheers to you my lovely man ....

Four Cousins

These four little ones got together for the first time in Sydney on the weekend .... Jed and Clay met baby Malia for the first time with big brother Jonah looking on ....

These boys got sick of playing babies and had some puzzle time together !!

Some beautiful flowers .... just love these proteas .....

And some bottle brush type flowers .... all in a beautiful bunch from my lovely husband ....

And this little treasure was introduced to State of Origin football on Sunday evening by her father .... apparently she fell asleep after five minutes .... and missed New South Wales big win !!!!

Colour Ways - Sari Silk

My dear friend Jill makes these gorgeous woven and sewn baskets from sari silk ....

This one is bright and colourful and matches the canvas work pincushion I made recently ....

The colours in the silk are so bright and varied and I just love them ....

Welcome to baby Malia

There was much excitement last week in our family as we welcomed our first granddaughter into the fold ....
Malia Kysely Hawdon was born on 12 June 2018 in Sydney to excited parents Elliott and Andrea and even more excited big brother, Jonah ....

Our first cuddles with this gorgeous little pink bundle of joy ....

Jonah was fairly intent on showing Malia his new duple .....

I had such a special time looking after Jonah while Elliott and Andrea were in hospital for a few days together .... but I still managed some very special cuddle time with Malia ....

She is just gorgeous ....

Very pink ....

And very much loved by her older brother Jonah ......

Tim took a couple of lovely photos which he shared with us over the weekend .... Ash and Clay at the beach .... Ash is due mid August ....

Afternoon brotherly love ..... Jed and Clay having cuddles in the sunset .......

And Jonah is pretty excited (as is Elliott) that they will be welcoming their newest addition in the next week or so ......

And these two grandparents will be in grandparent heaven .......

Canvas Work Rose Scissor Keeper

I decided recently to finish off a few of the little pieces I had started .... I did enjoy stitching another lovely
Sue Hawkins creation .... although the rose was a bit fiddly with all the different colours ....

It doesn't really look like the colour in the picture though ....

But I am really happy with the finish .... this is the front .... in amongst my bunch of native flowers ....

And I think I like the back better than the front .... and I do like all the colours used in this too !!

It's a bit of a cool and rainy weekend here for the Queens Birthday Long Weekend ... just the weather for keeping warm by the fire with a mug of coffee and some stitching .....

Chin Chin and Sydney

Whilst in Sydney we saw Priscilla Queen of the Desert which was fabulous .... music was fantastic and we were all up singing and dancing throughout .... good fun !!

The next morning we had a chilly walk around Barangaroo on the Sydney foreshore ....

The Opera House is still pretty spectacular .... even without the lights on !!

Then we almost all got together at Chin Chin in Surry Hills to celebrate Chelsea's birthday which was last week .... Jonah stole the show !

Food as always was spectacular ....

But it is having almost all the family together which is the best !!!

Vivid Sydney

We are just back from a couple of days in Sydney for a couple of appointments ... we did manage to spend an evening wandering around Circular Quay and taking in the sights of "Vivid" which was fantastic !

I think the Opera House was my favourite .... so many different light designs lighting up the sails of the Opera House ....

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is always spectacular ... but even more so when it is brightly lit ....

Loved the zebra design on the Opera House ....

This is one of the old cottages at Circular Quay with thousands of coloured balls projected onto it ....

Lights illuminating the Quay and buildings behind the Quay ....

And another Opera House special ..... it was very cold out but we managed to rug up to enjoy the sights !

Canvas Work Pincushion

I finally managed to finish off this wonderful piece which I have thoroughly enjoyed stitching .....

It is a Sue Hawkins kit from England and I really do love her designs .... now that I have retired from teaching needlework, I am enjoying catching up on lots of projects which I have wanted to do for a long time .... I just need more days to fit them all in ....

I love all the tiny coloured wooden beads which were part of this wonderful colourful kit ....

Adding them all at the end of stitching was fun ......

And here is my finished pincushion .... I have weighted the bottom with some fishing sinkers so it will keep stable at all times ..... and there is a cute little fob on the top for added decoration too ....

This used a few different variegated threads with some bolder colours too .... perhaps a little outside my comfort zone .... but really fun to stitch !!
