Malia's Baptism

It was lovely for almost all the family to come together for Malia's baptism over the weekend ....

Malia was baptised in the church in which Elliott grew up and played in the band and spent a whole lot of time with youth group etc. so it was lovely for he and Andrea to have their beautiful daughter baptised there ....
it was also the first time all the children have been together in church for a long long time .... very special ....

Big brother Jonah was excited about the baptism, and Uncle Sam (on the left) was godfather ....

We had a nice lunch with some of the family before they all headed home .... and we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful cake made by Sharan at Bodalla Bakery ... she took my brief for a baptism cake (not too over the top) and ran away with it .... beautiful fresh flowers and some little pink icing booties .... and not a speck of cream in sight .... white chocolate and sponge cake ........ mmmmmmmm delicious !!

More Retreat Photos

One of the ladies had made this gorgeous version of a Gail Pan quilt which I simply loved ....  just needed to be finished off with borders and bound .... great work ....

And another piece of  beautiful work ....

I worked on the first block of a Rosalie Quinlan quilt .... finished the stitching and now have to put the block together ..... and then the next 8 blocks to complete the quilt ....

As I hadn't caught up with Sylvia for a couple of months, we managed to exchange birthday gifts finally ... and she has made me a gorgeous little "Liberty" hexie drawstring bag which I love ....

And then I decided to work on a kit I have had for a number of years so I made lots of little hexies and sewed them together ....

This will become a useful large pincushion when it's finally put together ....

We had a great week with the Melbourne ladies and look forward to catching up again next year hopefully ... but for now it's back to reality .... and work ....

Retreat Time

I was very fortunate to sneak away from work for a week and head down to country Victoria to spend some time with friends and fellow stitchers last week .... we stayed at a beautiful house in Gisborne which is so well set up for lovely stitching retreats .... Abbe, the owner had thought of absolutely everything we would need for a week of stitching and patchwork .... it was amazing ....

There were beautiful quilts everywhere .... the one above was on the lounge room wall .... great inspiration ....

Just resting on the lounge ....

Each bed had a gorgeous quilt thrown across it when we arrived ....

A trip down south is not complete without a visit to "Millrose Cottage" in Ballan ... and the great cafe next door .... the quilt hanging on the wall is just lovely ...

I headed straight to the Liberty Room to swoon a bit and touch the fabrics .... absolutely beautiful ....
and I might have just bought a few to add to my Liberty collection !!

All so very beautiful and inspiring ....
