Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking progress

I have put my other stitching aside for a couple of weeks so I can finish off the Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking I am making for this cute little man ..... Leo ..... who turned six months old this past week !!   Wow hasn't that time just flown by ??

I am making steady progress with his Christmas Stocking but have changed a couple of the colours to suit my preferred colour scheme .....  I couldn't resist stitching his name on before it has been completed .... there are lots of little stitcheries around the outside and below the Santa and also lots of charms and buttons to be attached .... I was aiming for the end of October for finishing but I'm not so sure that will happen now in between babysitting and the busy times we always seem to have ....

I had Jed, Clay and Lyndie for a few hours yesterday afternoon and I was pretty impressed that I haven't lost my skills .... all three slept !!!!   Here is a cute picture of the boys napping on the lounge after their swimming lessons obviously exhausted them !!!

We also had a visit with Jonah and Malia this week .... here is Davey reading them a story ....

And baby Bowie is now five weeks old and that time has flown also .... as soon as Leo's Christmas Stocking is finished I will be making a start on one for Bowie ....

I received a little gift I had ordered for him from Cuddle and Kind in the USA .... it arrived this week so I am looking forward to gifting it to him when we see him again shortly ..... it is a Cuddle and Kind hand knitted dog named Noah ......  if you haven't visited the Cuddle and Kind website its worth a visit as the sale of each knitted toy generates 10 meals for underprivileged children .... I always love a gift with a cause ....

Now this is a little hard to see (you may have to zoom in) but our early morning walk yesterday found us out on the point and watching two seals at play .... they kept bobbing up and staring at us (or at our dogs) and then doing somersaults and swimming around .... a very playful start to the day !   We have also had the incredible pleasure of watching many whales heading south .... just beautiful ....

I hope your coming weekend brings you peaceful family times with a little bit of stitching thrown in for good measure ....

Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking

I decided this week would be the week I start the first of two Shepherds Bush Christmas Stockings which I hope to have done before Christmas this year .....

This is the first one I started on yesterday ... one of my favourites "Thomas" ... but this one is for Leo who was born in April (I really should have started it way back then) ....

The next one will be for Bowie who is four weeks old today .... and looking very cute in his little navy striped Bonds outfit ....

My trouble is that I have a few things going at once all the time ..... that way I never get bored with working on the one item for a long time ..... I am making very enjoyable progress with my Lynette Anderson project from the "Stitch the Day Away" ......

My morning ritual is to walk the dogs with David along the beach and up to the headland, come back and have breakfast together and then he heads off to work and I go off for my big morning walk .... about 6-8 kilometres most days ..... this morning it was lovely to venture off in a different direction and capture the most beautiful specimen of this spectacular Australian native plant ..... it was also an absolute delight to stand on the headland for a while and watch a couple of whales out to sea having a bit of a frolic !!

#stitchtherapy365 progress

I am happily stitching away on my #stitchtherapy365 project .....

I'm trying to keep up each day but it is not always easy with everything else that goes on or needs to be done ....

I constantly remind myself that the joy is in the stitching .... not the pressure of stitching ...... so it is nice to relax and take some time out for myself and just stitch a little bit each day ....

There are of course lots of other things calling out to be stitched, but I am determined that come this years end, I will have completed this project ..... and a quilt, and two new christmas stockings, and some other bits and pieces too ....

I do love the simplicity of this embroidery though .....

We have been kept busy with all the grandchildren ..... some lovely visits have been had .....

Baby Bowie was actually due yesterday but was born three weeks ago today and he is just a delight ..

We had the three little monkeys last Wednesday and went to the lookout to spot whales ..... they are there off in the distance !!

Lyndie loved being included in this Wednesday ritual with David and I ....

Malia and Jonah came to visit for the long weekend and the two little girls are only 2 months apart and had a lovely time together ....

The boys all had fun outdoors too !!

And baby Leo had his first visit to the park and his first swing ..... looking a little apprehensive here !

But he did love the slippery dip with his dad !!!

Another new week and a few appointments and days away coming up .... but hopefully some stitching time will be found !!!

Stitching Circle Basket and Grandchildren

I am loving a bit of quiet time stitching my Stitching Circle Basket which was the project I chose to do at Lynette Anderson's "Stitch The Day Away" this month on the Sunshine Coast .... it is small and portable and as I have been doing a few trips to Sydney and back to visit Bowie and his family, it is normally packed in with my other things .....

This is the first project I have used the Valdani threads on and I am enjoying the variegated thread and the finish on the embroidery ..... when I look at this picture it doesn't look like I have done much, but there is a lot of stitching and never enough hours in the day .....

We had a lovely visit with the kids on the weekend .... this was David's first cuddle with Bowie, as David had a cold when he was born and didn't want to go too close .... such a special moment ....

And here is a besotted father and grandfather absolutely doting on this gorgeous little man ....

Oh .... and a besotted grandmother too .....

Poor Sam had to go back to work this week after spending two weeks in the newborn cocoon with Nadia and Bowie ..... he wasn't looking forward to that !!

Last week I had a few days in the Blue Mountains with my mum and all my sisters (there are 5 of us) and my brother turned up to surprise mum for morning tea one day too .... it's not very often that we all get together and we usually try to do it around mums birthday which is at the end of October .... she will be 89 this year !!

I am one of the "three little girls" in the family ..... so here are three sisters at the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains !!

And what a spectacular place it is !!

I've done a little bit of babysitting this past week too .... I had Malia for the day last Wednesday which was fun !!

We visited Chelsea and Kye and baby Leo on the way to Sydney .... Leo is just such a happy little person and always smiling and laughing ....

Elliott and Andrea and the children visited Tulip Tops in Canberra with Bill and Kim, some very old and dear friends of ours ...... the flowers were spectacular !!

And I looked after this gorgeous little bed head, Lyndie, yesterday morning while her mum had some time out ..... she is just the spitting image of Ashleigh as a 1 year old too !!   Brings back lots of happy memories ....

Fortunately the weather on Sunday was beautiful and David and I set off for a 10km walk along the beaches and headlands, enjoying the sunshine and stunning weather .....

Introducing baby Bowie

Our son Sam and his beautiful wife Nadia welcomed their little boy, Bowie (Bo) into the world on Tuesday afternoon 17 September 2019 .....

Fortunately David and I were flying through Sydney on our way back home so we were able to stay and meet our gorgeous new grandson which was just amazing ....

Sam and Nadia are absolutely besotted with their little man and David and I are thrilled to have our seventh grandchild ....

Three generations of our family here with David, Sam and Bowie with Greg, Nadia's dad in the middle holding Bowie .... very special and treasured family times ....

Such a little blessing and so welcome ..... he has been so good for them (so far) so we are hoping this continues when he gets home !!   Be prepared for some more baby spam !!!

Stitch The Day Away Projects

It was lovely to head north to warmer weather for our stitching day with Lynette Anderson and her special guest, Anni Downs ..... we headed up on Friday and had a couple of beautiful beach and walking days before the stitching day on Sunday .....

We stayed at Mooloolaba and the weather was perfect !!

The water temperature was also pretty good for swimming too !!

And on Sunday it was off to "Stitch The Day Away 2019" with Lynette and Anni ..... our projects were beautifully packaged ......

Lynette's project for the day was this beautiful sewing companion .... there is lots of work to do to complete this but this was the project I started on for the day .... I just loved it !!!!

The sides are covered in little hexies which I also love !!!

I didn't achieve a whole lot in the day but did have a lovely time stitching and doing lots of chatting and catching up with some of the ladies and Anni and Lynette of course !

It was lovely to meet up Sylvia and some of the ladies from Canberra - Paddy, Caroline and Brenda as well - we always have such a lovely fun time and we really should do it more often !!

Here are Sylvia and I with Anni ....

Our table (a bit messy) which we shared with three lovely ladies who had travelled from New Zealand for the day !!

Anni's project was also gorgeous .... a beautifully stitched and appliquéd chatelaine in true Anni style .... and she also offered a companion sewing case to go with it ....  this will be on my list of things to do fairly quickly too as I also loved this one !!

The back of the sewing case is covered in hexies too !!

Each of the ladies had beautiful display shops with lots of lovely tempting patterns and fabrics !!!

Bundles of Lynette's fabrics ..... I may have bought home one of these !!

Gorgeous display by Lynette of projects from her new nautical book which is simply divine !!

Anni's shop had lots of tempting goodies too !!   Yes I did succumb to a few of these also !!

We had a simply lovely day stitching the day away with like minded friends and am really looking forward to next year ..... if you want to go, you just need to keep an eye out on Lynette Anderson's blog for the details .... it will be in September again in 2020 on the Sunshine Coast !!
