Change of Scenery

I was surprised when I opened my blog this morning to find that I had completely lost all my background and template .......   so I have gone with something completely different and new ..... we will see how we go with this one !!

So I have taken a couple of photos of Christmas decorations on our tree just to test this out ....  this PEACE decoration is one of my all time favourites !

A couple of new little additions to the tree .....  Faith, Hope and Love .....

Some cute little Christmas stockings which were stitched ....

Love the natural linen on these decorations .....

And some lovely lady has dropped off a beautiful bunch of Christmas Bush at my front door ... what a gorgeous surprise for Christmas ....

Hopefully this simple blogger template will work for a while !!   Hope you are enjoying your Christmas preparations !!

Christmas is coming ....

I have finally finished off the last Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking I will be making for this year .... and this one is for Bowie ....

I had finished a lot of the stitching but needed a couple of days to finish off and add the charms and beads and then sew it together ....

I do love the little packet of charms and beads that come with these gorgeous stockings ....  it does however take about an hour to sew them all in to place once the stitching is completed ....

And this little man looks pretty happy about his new Christmas stocking ....

Bowie just getting into the swing of Christmas parties ....

He looks so much like his dad in this picture .....

Jed graduated from his kindergarten this morning and he heads off to big school next year ... here he is having one last cuddle with his lovely teacher Robyn and receiving his certificate ....

And his mum and dad were pretty happy about his last day at kindergarten too .... hard to believe it will be just Clay and Lyndie at home next year .... and we will only have two little monkeys on our Wednesdays !!

Chelsea, Kye and Leo sent this picture of them at Kye's family Christmas lunch on the weekend .... such a gorgeous photo .... too good not to share ....

And Elliott, Andrea, Jonah and Malia enjoy Christmas Carols in the park near their house on the weekend too .....  another great happy family photo !!

And the beach days are finally coming .... here are Clay, Jed and Lyndie bringing up the rear heading down to the beach for a surf .... cannot wait for the Christmas holidays when we can hopefully do that every day !!

Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking and Bushfires

I am very happy to have finally finished off this beautiful Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking for Leo .....

I finally found the time to sit down at the sewing machine yesterday and sew it together and I am pleased with the result .... I hope this little man is happy with it too !!

We have had a crazy week here with bushfires on the south coast threatening our homes and destroying huge amounts of National Park and bushland ..... we were evacuated from our house last Sunday and I left with Ashleigh and the three children and headed north.  David and Tim stayed to help maintain the properties in our village .... it was a worrying time for us all and we finally arrived back home on Sunday this week when the road was re-opened ....

This was behind Ash and Tim's house last Sunday at the start of the bushfires ....

This is our beach where we walk the dogs every day looking back from the headland at the height of the blaze last Thursday .....  the winds came up and were not that far from our houses which was very frightening ....

All of a sudden a southerly hit and took the flames away from our village which was very fortunate for us all ....

Last Friday David and Tim and Pete and Jay jumped on two jet skis and came up to visit us .... the kids were wildly excited as the road had been closed all week and it was too dangerous to come home..

We all finally came home on Sunday and it was nice that the fire engines were still doing the rounds and protecting our area on Monday and Tuesday this week .... the boys jumped at the opportunity to have a look at the fire truck ....

I spent a night with Chelsea in Appin and it was lovely to see their local Christmas Tree all decorated with crochet squares ....

They even had enough left over to cover a couple of the seats .....  what a great idea ....

And I loved the caption "MAKING CROCHET COOL" .....

Nadia sent me this cute photo of Bowie smiling which I just had to share ....

And here is Lyndie looking cute as ever !!    I am looking forward to some uneventful weeks before Christmas to try and get organised .... and with another Christmas Stocking to finish off for Bowie I think I will be stitching up a storm !!

Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking

I am loving how this Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking is coming together finally .... it has been an ongoing work in progress and I can now see a light at the end of the tunnel .... which is just as well because Christmas is just around the corner .....

The DMC Perle threads are lovely to use ....

And the colours are beautiful ......

The little designs are all lovely ....

And the best part of all is finishing the stitching and finally getting to put the charms and beads on .... not too far away from that now .....

And as if I didn't have enough to do before Christmas (including hopefully another Christmas Stocking for Bowie) I could simply not resist joining in with Helen Stubbings Hugs N Kisses Mystery Advent Stitchalong .... even if I don't finish it this year, I know it will be a lovely project .... if you are interested, the stitch along is free if you sign up before the end of November .... have a look at the Hugs N Kisses website ......

Missing in Action

I have been missing in action from my blog for almost a month due to grandmother duties all around and helping out the children .... not a lot of stitching has been done although I have almost finished Leo's  Christmas Stocking ..... and with only just over a month until Christmas I'm hoping to have Bowie's Christmas Stocking finished too !!!

I did spend a couple of days with Chelsea, Kye and Leo and love that he is using the Bali Dreaming Quilt which I made Chelsea for her 22nd birthday nearly 8 years ago ..... I love the colours and Jenny did such a great job of the quilting ....

Our morning walks with the dogs along the beaches and headlands have been beautiful of late .... it is so lovely to be walking when the sun comes up to greet the day ....

Chelsea and Kye have sold their house and are heading towards the coast in the New Year so that is a big move for them .... we went up to have a look at their new place the other day and ran into another good family friend, Jess, and managed to fit in a coffee and a catch up .... these girls are going to love living close by each other ....

Heading off for an afternoon walk with an approaching thunderstorm .... the dogs love being the only ones on the beach when David and I take them walking ....

I took this photo the other morning of this huge bluebottle ..... they are amazing looking but their tentacles pack a mean sting for those of you who aren't familiar with them .... scientific name is Physalia Utriculus .....

I'll leave you with a beautiful bunch of flowers from last week .....  I'm hoping to get into the stitching before Christmas so I have some pieces finished or at least new Christmas Stockings for the new babies in the family .....

Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking progress

I have put my other stitching aside for a couple of weeks so I can finish off the Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking I am making for this cute little man ..... Leo ..... who turned six months old this past week !!   Wow hasn't that time just flown by ??

I am making steady progress with his Christmas Stocking but have changed a couple of the colours to suit my preferred colour scheme .....  I couldn't resist stitching his name on before it has been completed .... there are lots of little stitcheries around the outside and below the Santa and also lots of charms and buttons to be attached .... I was aiming for the end of October for finishing but I'm not so sure that will happen now in between babysitting and the busy times we always seem to have ....

I had Jed, Clay and Lyndie for a few hours yesterday afternoon and I was pretty impressed that I haven't lost my skills .... all three slept !!!!   Here is a cute picture of the boys napping on the lounge after their swimming lessons obviously exhausted them !!!

We also had a visit with Jonah and Malia this week .... here is Davey reading them a story ....

And baby Bowie is now five weeks old and that time has flown also .... as soon as Leo's Christmas Stocking is finished I will be making a start on one for Bowie ....

I received a little gift I had ordered for him from Cuddle and Kind in the USA .... it arrived this week so I am looking forward to gifting it to him when we see him again shortly ..... it is a Cuddle and Kind hand knitted dog named Noah ......  if you haven't visited the Cuddle and Kind website its worth a visit as the sale of each knitted toy generates 10 meals for underprivileged children .... I always love a gift with a cause ....

Now this is a little hard to see (you may have to zoom in) but our early morning walk yesterday found us out on the point and watching two seals at play .... they kept bobbing up and staring at us (or at our dogs) and then doing somersaults and swimming around .... a very playful start to the day !   We have also had the incredible pleasure of watching many whales heading south .... just beautiful ....

I hope your coming weekend brings you peaceful family times with a little bit of stitching thrown in for good measure ....

Shepherds Bush Christmas Stocking

I decided this week would be the week I start the first of two Shepherds Bush Christmas Stockings which I hope to have done before Christmas this year .....

This is the first one I started on yesterday ... one of my favourites "Thomas" ... but this one is for Leo who was born in April (I really should have started it way back then) ....

The next one will be for Bowie who is four weeks old today .... and looking very cute in his little navy striped Bonds outfit ....

My trouble is that I have a few things going at once all the time ..... that way I never get bored with working on the one item for a long time ..... I am making very enjoyable progress with my Lynette Anderson project from the "Stitch the Day Away" ......

My morning ritual is to walk the dogs with David along the beach and up to the headland, come back and have breakfast together and then he heads off to work and I go off for my big morning walk .... about 6-8 kilometres most days ..... this morning it was lovely to venture off in a different direction and capture the most beautiful specimen of this spectacular Australian native plant ..... it was also an absolute delight to stand on the headland for a while and watch a couple of whales out to sea having a bit of a frolic !!
