Anniversary and stitching the days away ....

We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary on Wednesday .... we had Jed and Clay for the day so decided to take them out for Japanese for lunch which they love .... Jed took this photo of David and I which was a pretty good effort ....

The boys were excited that their lunch came in a little car platter .....  they love the avocado rolls and the Japanese chicken ..... the chips are obviously Australian !!

Jed spent hours colouring in the afternoon while Clay had a snooze ....

David bought me these beautiful flowers too .....

We are also happy that our son has arrived home on leave for a few weeks with his family .... here he is in Dubai on the way home .... great picture ....

And as we have our sixth grandchild arriving in about 6 weeks I am getting a bit of a hurry up on with this special alphabet quilt for Chelsea and Kye and their new baby ....

This is the same pattern as the quilt which my Embroidery ladies made for me for our grandchildren when Jed was born 5 years ago .... I have it in my linen press and it comes out when the grandchildren come to stay .... they all love it !

I have stitched about half of the alphabet already and there are some hearts and stars which go in between the alphabet letters which I have stitched also ....

Such bright and breezy colours ..... I hope he/she will love it !!

Where We Love Is Home - Block 1

One of my favourite methods is combining patchwork and embroidery so I naturally fell in love with Anni Downs new Block of the Month - Where We Love Is Home .....

I have enjoyed putting this block together and ultimately decided on appliqué and blanket stitch for the design rather than needle turn appliqué ....  the completed block is 15 1/2" by 21 1/2" so it is fairly big ....

I'm happy with the finished block and love the fabrics Anni has chosen .... especially the two shades of linen which I really love ....

I would never think to put some of these fabrics together but when it is all finished it looks great ...

Cannot wait for Block 2 to arrive in a few weeks time !!

More Stitchtherapy & Where We Love is Home

I have completed the last 3 days of #stitchtherapy365 and I am loving these little stitcheries each day ....

They are simple and fun to stitch .....

Ash sent this cute little pic of Lyndie this morning .... she is now sitting and crawling around chasing her two big brothers .....

And I am now cutting into these gorgeous fabrics for the first block of "Where We Love is Home" by Anni Downs .... I do love her designs ..... and I really like the different fabrics she has used in this quilt ....

I'm hoping to keep up to date with these blocks each month as well ......

Where We Love is Home and #stitchtherapy365

It has been a busy week and I am finally having a day at home to catch up .... and don't you just love it when the postman delivers some great happy mail ..... I received the first block for Anni Downs new quilt called "Where We Love is Home" .... I ordered it because I love all things Anni and because I loved the dark background it is worked on ......  so here goes on another block of the month project !!

The block of the month is available from Hatched and Patched in Bathurst if you are interested .....

I am trying to keep up to date with Helen Stubbings #stitchtherapy365 and so far so good .....

Here are the blocks from this past week .....

Lots of fun stitching here .......

Love the little chickens .....

And this little teddy reminded me of all the tiny teddies I have made over the years ....

And today's stitch was a simple pincushion .....

It has been a fairly busy week with a trip to Sydney to take Jonah to hospital for the day with his mum so he could get new grommets and have adenoids out .... such a happy little chap before the operation .... always happy playing with stickers ..... he is recovering well now thank goodness ....

And then a quick day trip to Canberra with Ashleigh and the children to visit Bill and Kim .... and a visit to the dinosaur museum which they loved .....

Even Lyndie loved it !!!

And then on to Cockington Green which was almost deserted of people and meant that Jed and Clay had the run of the place ..... always a beautiful little visit and the flowers were stunning ....

So hopefully the next week will bring some peaceful stitching times and no rush trips to anywhere in particular .....

Jed turns 5

I cannot believe that Jed turned 5 last week ..... it only seems like such a short time ago that I was sailing into Sydney Harbour after tutoring on the Needlework Cruise and I received a telephone call at 6.00am to tell me that he had been born overnight ...... such excitement and such a very special blessing ....

We gave him a new winter wetsuit which he loved as he loves nothing more than going out for a surf with his dad .... winter or summer .....

Chelsea and Kye were down for the weekend too and we each shared in this gift for Jed ....

Jed having a little backyard practice on his new bike from his mum and dad ..... don't worry he does wear that helmet but he just wanted to show us the new bike ....

We took the boys to the park at Mollymook last week too which is always lots of fun .... I do love this mural ....

And David and I enjoyed a great walk down along the coast for about 16km the weekend before .... very remote and very pleasant .... and very tired legs coming home ......

Family and #stitchtherapy365

#stitchtherapy365 is such a lovely way to spend a little time each day working on the creative art of stitchery ..... Helen Stubbings has created a beautiful piece to keep us all busy for this year !!!
And I'm happy to say that I am trying to keep up to date with each day in amongst all my other activities .....

I am changing colours and some stitches but am enjoying the simplicity of this gorgeous piece ....

I have found myself looking forward to about 11am each day when Helen sends out her emails with the instructions and diagram for the day of stitching ....

I have even snuck ahead a day or two if I am going to be away .....

I can see that if I didn't keep up it would get way ahead of me and I wouldn't like that !

As you can see, some days have very simple stitches and some a little bit more detail ....

I did say to my husband I cannot believe I am stitching a cricket ball here !!!!

And this little flower below brings us up to date to today ......  and then there is always tomorrow ....

Sam and Nadia have jetted off to South Africa this week for a wedding followed by a safari and they sent us this lovely picture from the airport before they flew out ....

We had a great few days this past weekend when Andrea, Jonah and Malia came for a visit .... it's not too long until Elliott is home on leave which we are all looking forward to .....

To wake up each day to this gorgeous smiley girl is just beautiful ..... such a cutie pie !

We took four of the children to the Milton Show on Saturday ..... Malia was sleeping at home ...... here is Lyndie, Jonah, Clay and Jed all ready for a fun morning at the show ....

We cam across some funny little animals ....

The boys enjoyed a couple of little rides .... and we introduced them to fairy floss .... a grandparents joy !!

We had a nice little afternoon tea in Ashleigh's backyard with all the grandchildren ....

Jonah loved walking the dogs along the beach and throwing the ball for them ....

And Davey enjoyed his morning tea with Jonah and Malia at the little table ....

Family times such as these as so very treasured ...... and meanwhile the stitching took a backseat for the weekend .....
